<item><hi format=bold>F-117A:</hi> Five full-scale development aircraft, which evidently used the designation YF-117A, were followed by 59 production examples which were delivered to the USAF between August 1982 and July 1990.

<item><hi format=bold>(Note:</hi> The F-117As are unusual amongst USAF aircraft in that they display only the last three digits of the serial number externally, i.e. 780 to 843. In view of the fact that the fiscal year prefixes do not correlate with the production and delivery date sequences, it appears that these were allocated after production, conceivably as a 'tidying-up' exercise to bring them into line with other USAF aircraft.<hi format=bold>)</hi>
